The Sirens played host to Adelaide on November 7th and 8th with 2 high paced games. Sirens took an early lead Saturday but a strong comeback by Adelaide sent the game into a shootout. Michelle stood her ground keeping all 3 rounds out of the net while Stephenie Cochrane was able to score one in the shootout to secure the 5-4 win and 2 points. Sirens learned from their mistakes on Saturday and kept their early lead on Sunday to finish Adelaide off with a score of 4-1.
Nov 21 and 22 the Sirens were in Adelaide with their sights set on taking the remaining 6 points and all 4 games from the Adrenaline. Saturday the Sirens again took a quick lead, up 2-0 in the first 5 minutes. Sharna Godfrey led the scoring with 4 goals and 2 assists to bring the sirens to an 8-2 final. Tianna Elaya finished up the game in net for the Sirens with each goalie allowing only 1 goal. Sunday the Adrenaline came out with a bit more force, but the Sirens were able to keep them at bay. Amelia Matheson had 2 goals to help boost the Sirens to a 4-1 win and a clean sweep of Adelaide.
The Sirens have started this season with a positive vibe and a "can't lose" attitude which is evident in the way the girls are playing so far. Every training and game has been hard fought to the end with no giving up. We look forward to cheering on these girls at their next home game Dec 5th and 6th against the Brisbane Goannas.
